I feel like I have been unduly cranky and irritated lately. Perhaps it is because the first part of the year — composed of two “90 day projects — didn’t really amount to much. It is ho-humdom run amok.
So, with that in mind, and today being only the third day of August 2014, I think it is as good a time as any to get a jump on 2015 and all of those bothersome resolutions. Here’s how it works.
First, forget about everything preceding today (unless it will make good copy for a story) and move on. Brush off the dust and move on. That’s step one.
Step two is more complicated. Anticipate what you might want to accomplish in 2015. For me that’s any number of things so it is extra complicated. It is good to find an idea — maybe two — and just go full on and chase it. Or chase both of them. Throw in a lucky lady and things will be pretty good.
Third, jump on it and go! The idea is to hit December 31 not saying “Oh, let’s see…in 2015 I am going to work 15% harder and take more vacations.” No! Instead you say, “Hey…tomorrow is 2015 and I’ve already accomplished this and that!” Then you give the lovely lucky lady a kiss and tender pat on the ass and all is good.
That’s what I’m doing. Starting in twelve hours and 2 minutes. Who’s with me?
